Date: 19th of July 2021

In-line with the Governments road map step 4 which starts today, the GTA will be issuing version 2.8 of the COVID-19 Policy later this week for staff, learners and employers.

Areas that will remain unchanged:

  • high levels of cleaning particularly of high touch areas will remain until notice

  • Continuing high levels of personal hygiene with staff and enforcing with their apprentices/pre-16/delegates

  • Keep areas well ventilated where possible

  • Encourage safe behaviour off-site with apprentices promoting COVID-19 safety with apprentices

  • Encourage staff and apprentices to take up the offer of both doses of the vaccine, which is now offered to anyone over the age of 18

  • Outbreak management, stepping up/down measures as appropriate

  • If you develop COVID-19 symptoms, self-isolate immediately and get a PCR test, even if your symptoms are mild. You should self-isolate at home while you book the test and wait for the results. You must self-isolate if you test positive.

A summary of the changes going forward:

19 July 2021

  • Face coverings, from 19 July, government is removing the requirement to wear face coverings in law but expects and recommends that they are worn in enclosed and crowded spaces where you may come into contact with people you don't normally meet. This includes public transport and dedicated transport to school or college.

  • Removal of social distancing and social contact restrictions.

16 August 2021

  • From 16 August 2021 children under the age of 18 will no longer be required to self-isolate if they are contacted by NHS Test and Trace as a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case. Instead children will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace, informed they have been in close contact with a positive case and given age appropriate testing advice.

4 September 2021

  • Close contacts will be identified via NHS Test and Trace and education settings will no longer be expected to undertake contact tracing.

Kind regards
