The staff and apprentices at GTA are never scared of a big task, from our track-ready, sparkly C1 race cars to a full strip down restoration on a TVR, safe to say we've had a few big projects in. This year will be no different as we embark on a full respray on this Honda Civic race car. The current vehicle, owned by one of our Mechanical Apprenticeship Tutors, is eventually getting rebuilt into the new shell when it’s all painted. All paintwork will be done by our Apprentice Paint Technicians with any body repairs tackled by our Panel Repair Apprentices.
The project starts with a planning meeting, discussing what tasks need to be completed and assigning project leaders. This gets the apprentices working as a team, listening to a team leader and following instructions to work towards a final product.
The new shell is being built with even more race focused parts, including designation exhaust channelling to the side and lightweight panels.
You may recognise the predecessor of this car as the green and yellow, 'BP' lliveried race car often seen at our open day events.
We'll continue with updates on this vehicle as it goes from bare shell to road going race car!
Why not head over to our social media outlets to keep up to date on the all the latest goings on at GTA!
