Autocare Technician (Level 2)

Are you looking to become an Autocare Technician? At the GTA we will support you on this journey. You will be able to carry out a range of services and repairs to cars, car derived vans and light goods vehicles working in an auto-centre, as a part of a large national chain or an independent garage.
A great start to your career
On completion of this apprenticeship as an Autocare Technician, you will be eligible to apply for IMI membership as a Registered Young Professional or if you wish as an Associate Member. This apprenticeship will also allow you to gain entry onto the IMI Professional Register.
What will you learn?

Tyre legislation and technical information.

Fundamentals of specific vehicle systems including steering and suspension, braking systems, battery and charging systems, exhaust systems and air-conditioning systems.

Vehicle 4-wheel geometry principles (Alignment).

Basic consumer legislation relevant to the industry.

Appropriate health and safety legislation and requirements for the workplace.

Hybrid/electric vehicle systems and safe working procedures.

Data protection requirements to protect customer and payment information.

General sales principles.

Business and commercial awareness.

Vehicle safety inspections and routine maintenance.
